Hair-Nail Cutting: If any part of our body gets hurt or scratched, it hurts so much. Sometimes the pain is so severe that one has to take painkillers. It is natural to feel pain when the skin gets cut or torn, but this does not happen with hair and nails, despite being a part of our own body. There is no pain while cutting nails and hair. People are surprised about this but it is really a strange thing. Let us know why we do not feel pain while cutting nails and hair.
Why there is no pain when cutting nails and hair
The reason behind no pain while cutting nails and hair is dead cells. Actually, dead cells are present in both nails and hair and because of these, there is no feeling of pain while cutting them. A protein called keratin is found in the dead cells of nails and hair, which are completely lifeless. This is why there is no pain when we cut nails. But this protein is not present in the part of the nail adjacent to the skin, instead there are live cells here. Therefore, when we cut the nails very close to the skin, we feel pain.
here is the reason
Exactly the same reason is with hair. Hair is made from dead cells. Therefore, one does not feel pain while cutting or pruning them. On the other hand, keratin protein is considered essential for hair. If there is a deficiency of keratin protein in the body then hair starts falling, becoming dry and turning grey. Therefore, doctors advise that adequate protein should be consumed for the growth of nails and hair. When there is keratin protein in the body, the nails are also affected and the nails become weak and start breaking even after doing even a little work.
